Melissa S. Craib Dombrowski
Stage Director, Theatre Educator, Choreographer, SDC
Melissa is a theatre director, educator, arts administrator and stage manager based in Durham, NC. She was the first recipient of the Charles H. Hume Memorial Award, and has studied with the programs at CSU Sacramento and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She received her BA (Hons) Degree in Drama and Theatre Studies from Middlesex University (London, UK). Melissa’s work has been recognized in regional awards including Best Director, Best Adapted Script, and Best Choreographer. Her directing credits include Patience, Urinetown, Godspell, Romeo and Juliet, Oleanna, All in the Timing, and We. In California, she has had the privilege to work with Broadway Sacramento/Music Circus, the B Street Theatre , and El Portal in North Hollywood. In Iowa she worked for the theatre, music and dance departments at the University of Iowa (Iowa City) as well as the Englert and Riverside Theatre. In North Carolina she has worked with the Carrboro Arts Center, Man Bites Dog, and developed the Summer Musical Theatre Intensive program at Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts. She currently serves as the Artistic Director for the Durham Savoyards and as the Director of Operations for Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts (CHSMA).
Melissa is proud to be a member of the SDC (Stage Directors and Choreographers Society), MTEA (the Musical Theatre Educators Alliance) and NCTAE (North Carolina Theatre Arts Educators).
